100 kWh Energy Storage System Added to Existing Solar Array
Project Overview
Live Solar Ltd recently completed the installation of a large-scale commercial battery storage system added retrospectively to an existing solar PV installation.
The client already had a solar array installed and generating renewable electricity, but like many businesses they were exporting large amounts of energy back to the grid during the day while still needing to import electricity during the evening and peak demand periods.
To solve this, we designed and installed a SolaX Aelio commercial energy storage system, allowing the site to capture and store excess solar generation for use later in the day.
The system significantly increases the value of the energy already being produced by the solar array while improving the site’s ability to manage its energy demand.

Retrofitting Battery Storage to Existing Solar
Many commercial solar systems were originally installed without battery storage, particularly when export tariffs were more favourable.
However, as energy prices have increased and export payments have fallen, storing energy on-site has become far more valuable.
By installing a commercial battery storage system, the client can now:
• Store excess solar energy generated during the day

The SolaX Aelio Commercial Energy Storage System
For this project we installed a SolaX Aelio hybrid inverter paired with a 100 kWh commercial battery cabinet.
The system is designed specifically for larger commercial installations where energy demand and solar generation are significantly higher than domestic systems.

Installation Process
Because the battery system was being added to an existing solar installation, careful integration with the existing electrical infrastructure was required.
The installation included:

• Integrating the hybrid inverter with the existing solar system
• Connecting the battery system to the site’s electrical distribution
• Commissioning and testing the full system operation
